Youm-e-Istehsal: Pakistan Stands with Kashmiri Brethren Against India's Atrocities

Every year on August 5, Pakistan observes Youm-e-Istehsal (Day of Exploitation) to mark the anniversary of India's controversial move in 2019 to abrogate Article 370 of its constitution, which granted special autonomous status to the disputed region of Jammu and Kashmir. This date has come to symbolize the ongoing struggle of the Kashmiri people and Pakistan's steadfast solidarity with them in the face of what it perceives as India's unjust actions.

In August 2019, the Indian government took a significant step by revoking the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, a move that has been met with strong condemnation from Pakistan and the international community. This decision led to a major escalation in the conflict, resulting in heightened military presence in the region, severe restrictions on movement and communication, and a curtailment of civil liberties for the Kashmiri people.

Pakistan has consistently condemned the Indian government's actions as a violation of international law and a breach of United Nations resolutions that recognize the right of self-determination for the Kashmiri people. It argues that the revocation of Article 370 undermines the region's historical and political status and exacerbates the longstanding dispute between the two countries over Kashmir.

On Youm-e-Istehsal, Pakistan reaffirms its support for the Kashmiri people, highlighting their plight and calling for international attention to their cause. This day serves as an opportunity for the Pakistani government and people to express their solidarity with the Kashmiri population, who have endured decades of conflict, repression, and human rights abuses. The observance of this day includes various activities, such as rallies, seminars, and speeches, aimed at raising awareness about the situation in Kashmir and pressing for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

Pakistani leaders often use this occasion to reiterate their commitment to advocating for the Kashmiri cause on global platforms. They call on the international community to hold India accountable for its actions and to support the implementation of United Nations resolutions that promise the right of self-determination to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan's stance is that a just and lasting solution to the Kashmir dispute can only be achieved through dialogue and negotiation, taking into account the wishes and aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

In addition to political statements, Youm-e-Istehsal is also marked by a sense of unity among the Pakistani people. The day symbolizes not just a political position but a shared humanitarian concern for the plight of Kashmiris. Through various events and media campaigns, Pakistanis express their empathy and solidarity, reinforcing the idea that the struggle of Kashmiris is not just a regional issue but a matter of human rights that deserves global attention.

In conclusion, Youm-e-Istehsal serves as a potent reminder of the enduring and contentious nature of the Kashmir conflict. It underscores Pakistan's commitment to standing by the Kashmiri people and its call for international intervention to address the grievances and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. As the world continues to watch, Pakistan remains vocal in its support for a peaceful resolution and the restoration of rights and freedoms to the Kashmiri population.
